DP WORLD CALLAO (PERU) GOES FULL ELECTRIC

DP World Callao is the First Port Operator in the World to purchase a fleet of 20 Electric ITVs, a Brand-New Green Technology. DP World Callao also purchased 12 Electric RTGs and 3 Electric STS QCs.

DP World CALLAO, the largest Port operator in Peru, operating the South Pier of the Port of Callao (in the Lima Region), which moved a record 1.5 million TEUs (containers) in 2021, has just purchased additional equipment for the growing traffic.

All those new equipment is full electric. 20 terminal tractors (Internal Transfer Vehicles known as ITVs) were purchased from the manufacturer Terberg and 12 yard cranes (Rubber-Tyred Gantry cranes known as RTGs) + 3 quay cranes (ship to shore cranes knows as STSs) from ZPMC.

That new full electric equipment will start arriving in Callao mid-2023 and will be operated on the Callao Port Expansion, a mega project of 350 mln$ invested by DP WORLD to serve the growing demand for the Peruvian Economy.

We are extremely proud to confirm that DP World Port Terminal in Callao is going full electric. This purchase of full electric equipment means a reduction of 1.5 million liters of diesel each and every year. And we are not stopping there. We will now start to retrofit diesel equipment into electric equipment in order to reach carbon neutrality.

This initiative is part of a larger major commitment of DP World for the environment locally and globally.

This month, DP World also received the 3rd Star Carbon Footprint awarded by the Ministry of the Environment of Peru.?
