A Dozen Delights of 2022 - #10
Elizabeth Ziemba, JD, MPH, Founder and President
Subject Matter Expert, President @ Medical Tourism Training, Inc. | Medical Tourism, Wellness, Health Travel
The Private Hospital Association Jordan (PHA) led by its President, Dr Fawzi Al-Hammouri hosted the International Healthcare Travel Forum 2022 in Amman, Jordan, the largest conference specialized in health travel in the MENA region.
For two days, keynote speakers and panel members offered content on a variety of topics discussing the way forward out of the pandemic.
High level Ministers from Jordan and other countries engaged with participants, ensuring access to decision-makers throughout the conference. From content about the role of technology in health travel to the role of diplomats in strengthening cross border cooperation, the ballroom at the St. Regis was packed with opportunities to learn and network.
My presentation tackled the issue of travel chaos and its impact on patient safety and risk management. The disruption in travel – cancellations, delays, missed connections, lost luggage, no wheelchair service – is at all-time highs. These interruptions in service pose distinct problems for health and medical travelers, international patient departments and facilitators, and airlines. Failure to revamp the patient journey, considering the increased likelihood?that something will go wrong and planning alternatives in advance, may have a negative impact on the medical condition of the person traveling. These risks have to be understood and made part of the logistical equation.
Jordan is a desirable health and medical travel destination. It offers highly qualified medical professionals, competitive prices, safety, and a location that offers hospitality, good infrastructure, and activities. The country is on the rise and a formidable competitor in the region. I hope to return in the New Year.
Absolutely agree Elizabeth Ziemba, JD, MPH, Founder and President that the conference was exceptionally well organized by Dr Fawzi Al-Hammouri, Shereen Abu Manneh and the Private Hospitals Association. Of particular note were the active presence of Dr. Abdul Azaq Arabiyat, the Jordan Tourism Board and the Royal Jordanian Airlines. This demonstrates commitment and willingness to listen and learn! #medicaltourism #healthtourism #jordan
