Downsized at the Holidays. Healthy and maybe necessary.
John Horack
Professor and Neil Armstrong Chair in Aerospace Policy, The Ohio State University
It's a familiar story. Holidays come. Company is making decent money; but perhaps it isn't quite what the business plan has predicted, nor what Wall Street might expect. End of year earnings have to be made. Letters go out. Positions - maybe hundreds - are eliminated. Costs are "saved." Organizations are "right-sized." People - flesh and blood human beings - are "downsized."
Not unique to any company, in any place, in any year. Happens often. A tired story, perhaps.
Until it happens to you.

8 年John I really enjoyed reading... and I've had a similar experience myself but didn't have the positive perspective you do... nor the grace to express it as you have. I learned today. Thank you and best to you and yours this holiday season. Take care man!
