"Down, test and adjust" is what the Range Officer shouts as part of the firing range drill when getting the shooting party to adopt the prone position.
Get down on your belly, get in a comfortable position and adjust your sights and shot selection (single or rapid) in preparation for firing. (It is also used as a joke to mean getting some kip when not on the range).
In the sales context though when you have a new product launch to get going you should do the same.
You may have an idea about the ideal customer profile or the vertical where the new product is going to fit, however before going all in it makes sense to down, test and adjust before just firing from the hip "Lucky Luke" style.
When everything is lined up and working out as expected, then you push the button for hyper drive.
