Douglas Rushkoff on the growth trap in the digital economy

An extraordinary talk by Douglas Rushkoff, a  Professor of Media Theory and Digital Economics at CUNY/Queens, who has just published a book called Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus.  Rushkoff argues that the digital economy we've built today has gone wrong, but it isn’t the fault of digital technology per se, but the way we are deploying it. Instead of building the distributed digital economy, we are doubling down on the industrial age mandate for growth above all.  In his words, “we are running a 21st century digital economy on a 13th Century printing-press era operating system.” In his book - as well as in his talk - Rushkoff shows how we went wrong, why we did it, and how we can reprogram the digital economy and our businesses from the inside out to promote sustainable prosperity for everyone.
