Doubt Your Doubts: Why a Lack of Confidence Will Halt Your Sales

Why your self doubt is stopping your sales  

I remember the morning meetings with my old sales manager. This meeting in particular was interesting a bit unusual from the morning boost. Our manager was explaining why we shouldn't “sell from our own pockets”.

If you're not familiar with this phrase it basically means you should not sell the client what you think they can afford because you can't afford it.

I was still new to sales and a bit timid as well so I would get very uncomfortable when selling big ticket items.

My own doubt held me back. I doubted my skills to sell. I doubted they had the money. I doubted everything. And I never even realized it. I lost a bunch of sales just because I was too worried about what was in their wallets.

It wasn't until I recognized this that I could address it and I could solve it. So now that you've read this take a look at your self.

Do You?

 

  • Talk yourself out of sales
  • Fear asking questions because of what others may think of you
  • Allow others to make decisions when negotiating?
  • Shrink During Group Discussions?
  • Allow your customers to control the sales process?

These are not the only scenarios of course but the are meant to make you take an introspective view on your life and ask those tough question. Keep this in mind and you’ll overcome this obstacle as well.
