Doubling down on Consumption & As-A-Service Strategy

In today’s digital economy, many enterprises favor flexible consumption models over traditional subscriptions or contracts. Customers today no longer set aside huge investments for expensive hardware upgrades or get locked in to long-term contracts. In fact, Gartner[1] forecasts that by 2022, 15% of new deployments of on-premises computing will involve pay-per-use pricing, up from less than 1% in 2019.
This is why we made the recent move to double down on our consumption and as-a-service strategy with the launch of Dell Technologies On Demand. The portfolio, which includes the Dell Financial Services (DFS) Pay As You Grow and Flex On Demand flexible consumption models, delivers on-demand and consistent infrastructure and services to businesses of any size. The Flex on Demand is also available for Dell EMC PowerEdge servers and our new Dell EMC PowerOne autonomous infrastructure system.
Some of you might be wondering why we are driving the consumption models now.
It’s simple.
At Dell Technologies, we’re constantly listening and anticipating the needs of our partners and customers. Many business and IT leaders tell us they don’t have the capital resources and expertise on hand to get what’s needed done. The good news is that there are several consumption-based solutions available today that shift technology spending from a capital expenditure to an ongoing operating expense. The bad news is that many of these solutions are often limited in scope, or too rigid and restrictive and create an inconsistent experience on many levels.
Dell Technologies On Demand solves all of this. We give customers accessible and affordable new technology. We help partners to take away the financial risks for them to focus on customer service. We are rapidly innovating our business model and investing in our partners.
Things will get real interesting as we look ahead.
Products will become more specialized, multi-cloud environments will expand and artificial intelligence will become IT’s #1 customer. These trends are creating a demand for data, the likes of which we’ve never seen before. There are big changes coming, and they’re bringing even bigger opportunities.
These complexities mean that customers will need trusted partners now more than ever.
Partners have the expertise and knowledge of their local markets best. They are the ones that talk to customers often and understand their deepest needs. They are especially important when we look at the burgeoning opportunities and we need their help to support the digital transformation journeys.
We’re really thrilled with this rollout and we hope to continue empowering our partners with these consumption services. Join us as we move into the future of tech and let’s continue to enable businesses and IT to be “future-ready”.

4 年Thanks Tian Beng Ng?for sharing some broader points here - especially the Gartner report findings. Despite many people believing that "Consumerization of IT" would lead to companies buying direct and abandoning partners the opposite is proving to be the case for many of the good reasons you state: local presence, local market knowledge and domain expertise.? The complexity of choice around what "IT solutions / Tech Stack" to buy, coupled with the complexity of "digitally transforming" a business successfully, means that those partners with proven track records of making customer's businesses run better will become the go-to trusted advisors in the marketplace.
