Double your donation! The Funding Network NZ pays it forward in unique Superpower Hour for small Kiwi charities

Inspiring the little contributions that, together, facilitate big change.
8 May 2023 - The Funding Network New Zealand is paying it forward to support small Kiwi grassroots charities, as part of their Generosity Generator nationwide crowdfunding event.
Since 1st May, 23 small Kiwi charities from across Aotearoa New Zealand have been running crowdfunding campaigns on Givealittle to raise essential funds for their cause. So far a collective total of $85,750 has been raised.
To inspire even more generosity, this Tuesday 9th May from 12pm - 1pm will be a very special Superpower Hour. Each charity will be allocated $400 of match funding and for one hour only, all donations up to $50 will be doubled.
The match funding has been provided by The Funding Network NZ and a generous anonymous donor.
As well as being a nationwide crowdfunding event, the Generosity Generator is an online fundraising training programme, and TFNNZ charges each participating charity a 5% fee of funds raised to cover the costs of the training.
“This time, in the TFNNZ spirit of inspiring generosity, we’ve decided to pay our 5% fees from the last Generosity Generator forward, to help our current group of charities drum up some extra funds during Superpower Hour”, explains Anusha Bhana, TFNNZ Digital & Comms Co-lead.
“Superpower Hour is about people using their generosity ‘superpower’, to support small charities, knowing their donations will be worth double to the charity. Plus the beautiful thing is most of these match funds have essentially come from other small charities.”
The Funding Network NZ have been focused on strengthening the capacity of small Kiwi charities since 2014, and are keenly aware of the challenges they face.
“Small Kiwi charities are some of the most under-resourced organisations in the country, and yet they are the ones often addressing significant social or environmental issues in their community or region at the grassroots level. They are a crucial lifeline for people and natural environments across the country,” says Tim Pare, Charities & Partnerships Co-lead.
“We created the Generosity Generator to support grassroots charities to build a solid foundation for a more secure future, and to encourage more New Zealanders to support their work, which we hope Superpower Hour will motivate them to do.”
Superpower Hour will take place on Tuesday 9th May, from 12pm - 1pm and the Generosity Generator event closes this Friday 12th May at midnight. Visit https://bit.ly/GGMay2023 to donate.
