Double Your Chances of Getting called for an Interview.
As per the Survey done by Jobvite, it was found that less than 2% of applications lead to interviews in data, tech, media, education, and consumer internet companies. E-commerce companies like Grubhub or Zappos look at a whopping 66 applicants per hire.
The good news is that if you prepare and pay attention to what recruiters want, you can greatly increase your chances of getting an interview.
Be an Early Bird: For Obvious Mathematical Reasons (considering the number of candidates versus the number of workers to review them), it may be hard to give each application the time and consideration it deserves after the first week of accepting applications. If you submit your application early, there is a larger chance that it will be given a thorough assessment. Make use of well-known employment boards like Indeed and LinkedIn by creating job alerts with keywords that are specific to your needs. Prepare your resume and cover letter in advance, tailoring each to the specifics of the position and company.
Leverage your connections: Referrals boost interview chances. The iCIMS Modern Job Seeker Report indicated that 77% of employees work for a company with a structured employee referral programme, which is a top source of quality hiring. If you're excited about an organisation or opening, leverage a LinkedIn connection or marketing network meeting contact. Discuss companies and positions with your trustworthy business contacts and social media connections. You never know who has a connection that could boost your application to the company's mailbox. Network directly with the employers and recruiters. Networking will help you get your foot through the door. Passive recruitment – contacting candidates that aren’t even looking – is an important part of the job market. You might be lucky to get an invitation or offer simply because you’ve impressed the employer or the recruiter in the past. In addition, having someone to refer to you on the inside of the business can be helpful. It can tell the employer you’d be a right fit and that you’re trustworthy and respected by peers. Contact employers and recruiters directly, attend career fairs and stay engaged with your industry and sector.
Keep your social media accounts up to date.
?Make sure that all of your public social media profiles say the same thing about who you are and what you've done for work. This goes beyond LinkedIn, especially if you will be working in a job where you will be in charge of marketing and social media. Even if they aren't on purpose, omissions or differences can show that you don't pay attention to details or that you're trying to hide something. Use your social media to get people interested in the right things. You will also need to know that people will look at what you post on social media. More and more employers find candidates directly on social media, and some even post job openings in this way. They also use social media as part of the process of choosing candidates. Make sure that your private social media sites are private. Employers shouldn't run away from your public profiles because they look too professional. You need to use keywords to improve your LinkedIn profile and any other social media profiles you use for business. Use these places to show off what you can do
Fix your Resume/CV
You know you're the best person for the job. Even though you're ready, you're not getting called for that important interview?. This is a sign that your resume needs to be fixed right away. Write a catchy headline for your resume To get a recruiter's attention, the title of your resume needs to be interesting and show what you've done and what you can do. The more exact it is, the more likely it is that recruiters will notice it.
For example, "Experienced in the software industry" is too broad, but "5 years of experience in Java/J2EE with responsibility for end to end delivery" shows exactly what you've done and what you're good at. In the same way, "HR Executive in the BFSI Industry" is too broad and doesn't really show what you do or how much experience you have. However, "Managing HR - Operations with 2 years of experience Onboarding offboarding" does. You can modify the heading based on Job you are applying for, the JD will help you understand which of your skills to highlight in the headline. Use the right key words to highlight your keyskills. When you update your Profile on the Job Portal (Naukari/Monster/Shine etc) the skills you list under "keyskills" should show what you do well at work.

Recruiters look for candidates based on things like their functional area, education, current salary, keywords, skills, position, company name, and so on. This means that your resume can get in front of a recruiter in more than one way. So, the more information you put in your profile, the more likely it is that your resume will come up. Make sure that the strength bar on your profile in the Home page of the Job Portal, which shows how strong your profile is, is as close to 100% as possible. Verify your contact details Recruiters are hesitant to contact candidates whose contact information can't be verified.
