Double mean-ing

Double mean-ing

We all want to be understood, right?

Getting there usually takes work:

  • A conversation
  • An argument
  • A debate
  • A presentation
  • A pitch

Until the moment we are understood, it's very likely that others might perceive what we're saying as mean.

They disagree - which adds their unease - maybe because they misunderstand.

You might sound mean...until they know what you mean.

It's a common downside to telling jokes.

Try to read the room better throughout your explanation.

For the sake of eventually arriving at a shared understanding.
