??Dott doubles down

After?Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille,?Grenoble?is the latest French city?tochoose?Dott.

This is a?double victory?for the Amsterdam-based operator, not only because it allows them to operate bikes and scooters, but because?they will be the only operator with the rights to do so.?Shared micromobility has facilitated travel around Grenoble?since July 2020, when TIER and Pony secured their?exclusive?licenses to operate 1,000 scooters and 1,000 bikes, respectively.

From July, Dott will operate?2,100?of each vehicle over a far larger geographical area.?Each of the?17 municipalities (up from 4) has pledged to?support the scheme?by creating?additional 450 parking zones, on top of the existing 250. Dott will also operate?a fleet of 100 cargo-bikes, and manage a long-term bike rental service.?

?????Ireland hints at scooter legalisation by end of 2022

Ireland's Department of Transport recently published its ambitious?National Sustainable Mobility policy?which should boost the adoption of shared mobility in the country.

The policy targets the development public bike-sharing by improving?existing schemes in?metropolitan areas, and by?adding?electric bikes where possible.?Scooters also look set to join the party;?the Road Traffic and Roads Bill 2021 legalising their use should be in place by the?end?of 2022.

To?support the development of these new services,?ambitious?goals have been set for the implementation?of both urban and peri-urban cycling infrastructure
