Dots, A Line and A Circle

Last morning, I thought August only had 30 days and I had completely forgotten about this important milestone of 31st August.

18 years ago on the same day, I started my journey with Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited. Back then we were Building relationships globally and now we are on the journey to the Future, Faster, Together.

Today on 31st August 2023, I attended a school orientation with my 5-year-old daughter. She will be starting her kindergarten. At school orientation, she was introduced to her classroom. After 45 minutes, she was not ready to leave the classroom even though most of the kids left. She was full of joy, and enthusiasm. She wanted to play for some more time. Though there were many toys to play around, she was busy with some of the new toys. Even after coming back home, she was profoundly sharing the whole experience.

I ruminated about my past while she was busy in her classroom. I reacted the same way 18 years back. Induction, salary bank account creation, ID cards, etc. The excitement of starting a new phase.

Seeing these 2 events together, I realized this can’t be a mere coincidence. Maybe life is trying to teach me something here.

I strongly believe trends are cyclic and life is a full circle. It keeps on teaching you a lesson, till you have learned it in spirit, in true sense.

Connecting these two dots of forgetting 31st Aug and my daughter’s school orientation helped me to think in a straight line and the outcomes of this ??????? (brainstorming) are;

• Smile often and cherish the beauty of small moments, like old times.
• Be childlike, not childish. With enthusiasm, and a beginner's mindset.
• Choose your stage (you may read it as battle) wisely to perform.
• Act and talk about it. Not the other way around.
• Balance is must between quality and diversity of work. Both are important.

In Bharat, 18 is the age when we get our voting and driving rights. A big responsibility and a privilege is awarded.

Well, there are no such rules for any corporate however I think my daughter and life are pointing me toward taking this responsibility and privilege ahead with the same curiosity, enthusiasm, and focus that I had when I started.

The only difference will be the blending of experience I have garnered over the years with it.

In these 18 years, there have been many ups and downs however the only thing that remained constant is the progress.

An upward journey, for me, my team, and LTIM.

Hope to continue this journey even longer and keep learning from my True North, my daughter.
