Do's and Don'ts when decorating Plantation Shutters

Do's and Don'ts when decorating Plantation Shutters

Do choose the curtains wisely

Adding curtains to plantation shutters creates a stylish and modern combination that looks great, but especially if you have shutters that open into the room, curtains surrounding shutters can become cumbersome. Panel curtains work best with plantation shutters. You should also install tiebacks for the curtains so that you can move them completely out of the way of the shutters when you are not using the curtains.

Do consider how you want them mounted on the window

Plantation shutters can be mounted inside or outside the window frame. If your window is set back from the wall enough to accommodate the shutter frame you can consider an inside mount. However, some windows may have a frame that is too small to accommodate the inside mount, so you will need to have the shutters mounted outside the window frame.

Don't think curtains is necessary

Plantation shutters are stylish and classy enough to stand on their own as beautiful element of a room's decor, and the addition of curtains might be superfluous in your space.

Don't forget the coordination of the whole room

It's important to remember that if you choose to have plantation shutters installed on one window in a room, then all the other windows in that room should also have plantation shutters installed.
