Dos and Don'ts For CA Articleship Resume

Recently I posted regarding a vacancy for CA Articles and I received many resumes. I found some basic mistakes in many CVs and after discussing with 2 Hiring Managers, here I am enumerating some Dos and Don’ts for making resumes.

????????Dos

1.??????Mention your academic strength (preferably using a tabular format)

2.??????Keep it simple and on a single page.

3.??????If you have any experience, mention it. (For example, if you were into teaching etc)

4.??????To improve readability, you may add borders or margins.

5.??????If you are using colors for highlighting headings, use different shades of gray because the recruiter will take Black and White printouts only.

6.??????Support your technical skills with certificates. (Learn vlookup, hlookup, index, match, pivot table, etc)

7.??????Use Hyperlinks for mail Id or Linkedin Id.

8.??????Scholarships are achievements, add to your CV.

9.??????Use a cover letter.

?????????Don’ts

1.??????Don’t write motivational quotes.

2.??????When you are using a single page, there is no point to write your father’s name and his profession. (They will ask about this in the interview, so prepare a good answer for that)

3.??????Don’t add a declaration, if there is a space issue.

4.??????Yes, it's just fine to use resume templates, if you use them wisely. HRs often receive many CVs made using a single template.

5.??????Do you want to add your photo to the resume? There is a debate about whether it is good or bad. Some hiring managers may consider resume photos unprofessional.
