3. Sustainability Reporting Just Got Easier
The global sustainability reporting landscape has long been criticized for being a confusing ‘alphabet soup’ of different disconnected standards. Today, all standards work together to ensure they are in high alignment and interoperable. Furthering this effort, this week, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) - the new global gold standard for sustainability reporting - released a new interoperability guidance tool to help companies align with both the ISSB standards and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). ?Plus, the CDP just released a lighter version of their questionnaire to give SMEs a better opportunity to start reporting their environmental data.
4. Biden Set to Expand National Parks
The Biden Administration announced the expansion of two Californian US National Parks, the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument and the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument. This expansion would provide key areas for biodiversity, wildlife corridors, and cultural significance for Indigenous Populations. This will add to the over 41 million acres (about twice the area of South Carolina) of land and water that U.S. Biden has already taken action to protect.
