Don’t worry, be positive

Don’t worry, be positive

New Year’s resolutions: some may call it old-fashioned, bound to fail or too mainstream. But I don’t care. Because I intend to choose for positivity from now on, and breaking down resolutions is a negative thing.

Actually, I made two of them this year and I already took a head start. Both of my New Year’s resolutions were inspired during an economic trade mission to Malaysia and Singapore, in the presence of the Belgian princess Astrid. Those missions, accompanied by a member of the royal family, are meant to introduce Belgian entrepreneurs to foreign potential customers or partners. They are organized a few times a year (less than before) and are always very productive.

Let me explain to you why, and what resolutions it lead to.

Resolution one: positivity
When a few people go on a trip together with the same goal of expanding business, they are excited. They don’t just have a dream; they are working to make it come true. Everything is possible, and that attitude makes things possible. So in 2015 the sky is the limit for me and everybody I meet. I’ll spread my positivity until the point where everybody around me has no choice but to feel positive too.

It is my resolution to recreate that positive vibe that makes everything possible, that makes every mayor issue seem like a tiny hiccup and that makes dreams come true.

Resolution two: real encounters
When a few people go on a trip together, they talk. For real. Not just during meetings, not just small talk while in the elevator, not just liking or sharing posts on social media. After and in between the many meetings there are long drives and evenings at the bar. And when the small talk is exhausted after a while, you go on to different subjects. You talk about the challenges you face, your fears and your victories. You get inspired by your collocutors and inspire them simultaneously. You share ideas and tips, exchange contact details of people you just know can mean something for your discussion partner and you help each other out.

I plan to get inspired and inspire as much as possible from now on, by having real, meaningful encounters.

Did you make New Year’s Resolutions? I’d love to hear it!

Same resolution as in 2014, help my network where possible and not only for the benefit of myself or my company! This creates a positive energy for everyone involved and build long term 'relations'!

I am sure that success without overcoming the obstacles is impossible . I am also sure that any obstacles can be removed with positive attitude.
