Today I was at the doctors office and I overheard a woman talking about the upcoming election. She said that everyone she is talking to is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Wow, those are strong words. I can only imagine, if she is thinking that, imagine how many other people are.
In the United States we literally have millions of people incredibly stressed about our elections. Many many millions more around the world as well since the US had such a big impact on the world.
I know what it is like because I used to be one of them. I let the emotions of politics control me. Then one day I realized that I have very little control over the outcomes of the election. I can vote and encourage others to vote too but that is about it. And the amount of wasted energy I put into worrying about something out of my control was incredible.
If we have little control we should have little stress.
Now it is good to care. I hope all people put in the effort to be informed but when you cast your ballot be done with the worry. Be concerned but not over concerned. We will be much more content.
Whether our side wins or loses things don’t change that much. Politicians over promise and under deliver. One side wins one election then is swings back the other way.
The point is when we look back at our life and consider the energy we put into being stressed we will always regret that choice to be miserable. Commit to yourself now to care but not over care. Think but don’t over think.

4 个月Nathan Czubaj (shoo-buy)... Thanks for sharing. While we know this in our heads, controlling our emotions is still hard when the outcomes impact so many—especially women and our daughters. It brings back the tears and the trauma, just like in 2016. Just need to stay away from TV and be strong :-)
