Don’t Worry

In Luke 12:22-34 it is written:

22?Then Jesus said to his disciples:?“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.?23?For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.?24?Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap; they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.?And how much more valuable you are than birds!?25?Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life[b]??26?Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27?“Consider how the wildflowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor?was dressed like one of these.?28?If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!?29?And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.?30?For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father?knows that you need them.?31?But seek his kingdom,?and these things will be given to you as well.

32?“Do not be afraid,?little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.?33?Sell your possessions and give to the poor.?Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven?that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.?34?For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Let me ask you a few questions:

Firstly: Are you worried about anything right now??Silly question isn’t it!??We all struggle with having one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom of God.

Secondly:?Do we believe in God’s plan for us??We must choose to let Christ lead our lives.?A part of being faithful is accepting Christ’s assurance and making a habit of taking comfort in our Lord’s protection and supplication.

Thirdly: Do we believe that we have a single problem which is stronger than God??Of course not.

And lastly: When we are spending our eternity with our Heavenly Father and our loved ones, will we be thinking about whatever it is that is worrying us right now??Of course not.?Let us give our worries and troubles to the Lord. ?Let us use the gifts that he has blessed us with to problem solve and take care of our business, but let us take Jesus assurance and not worry.

Loving Heavenly Father, please grant us peace of?mind?and calm our troubled hearts. Our soul is like a turbulent sea. We do not seem to find our balance, so we stumble and worry constantly. Give us the strength and clarity of mind to find our purpose and walk the path you have laid out for us.?We come before You to lay our panic and anxiety at Your feet. When we are crushed by our fears and worries, remind us of Your power and Your grace. Fill us with Your peace as we trust in You and You alone. We know that we can’t beat this on our own, but we also know that we have You, Lord, and You have already paid the ultimate price to carry our burdens.
