Don't Worry Be Happy
("Happiness is a journey, not a destination."- Buddha)
Happiness comes from within. Unfortunately, we look outside to achieve happiness, be it friends, family or even money.
To find real lasting happiness, we need to look inside and peel off layers that we have wrapped ourselves in.
The first layer to peel off is Desire.
Desires?are states of mind that are expressed by terms like ‘’ wanting’’, ‘’wishing’’, "longing" or "craving". (Wikipedia)
Desires constantly arise from within us, only to be replaced by yet more desires.?
Many search for desires from the outside world for themselves to make sense of their life.
?It was the American essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson who declared: “What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
If something within you seeks change, it will only come from inward — not from an external source.
You are probably creating ‘desires’ because you think you ‘should’ and not because you really want it. Maybe you are doing this to please someone or avoid being rejected. Making decisions based on what others think is giving away your power.
To evaluate how much of power you give away, consider the reasons that you do what you do or don’t do what you want.
?
The second layer to peel is ‘our self-limiting beliefs’.
Many of our beliefs have been passed down to us by our elders, friends, and people we have been associated with for a long time. Such beliefs (that we are unaware of) will always stop us from achieving our full potential and experiencing happiness.
Tony Robbins once said:
“The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.”
Limiting beliefs?are thoughts, opinions that one believes to be the absolute truth. They tend to have a negative impact on one's life by stopping them from moving forward and growing on a personal and professional level.
In most cases, limiting beliefs are unconscious thoughts that act as a defense mechanism to avoid stress, pain and in many cases happiness.

The third layer to peel of is ego.
?Your ego is?most likely?the greatest cause of your current dissatisfaction with life and happiness.
When we act on emotion or impulse, we are removing all opportunity to put quality thought into the decision being made.?
The?demand for more, be it money, success, happiness, even love comes from that part of the mind that is the ego. The ability to manage our ego is related to self-knowledge and healing of old emotional traumas, so that we are not subject to fears and anger of the past and the resulting automatic reactions.
A healthy and balanced ego helps one to be objective and to see situations and people as realistic as possible.?
The person with a strong and balanced ego is aware and sincere about how he feels at a very deep level and seeks the reasons for these feelings so that he can act in the direction of improving himself and his life to feel happy and satisfied.
The fourth layer to peel off is moods & emotions
Emotions are short-lived feelings that come from a known cause, while?moods are feelings that are longer lasting than emotions and have no clear starting point of formation.
Building habits that encourage us to feel more positive emotions can help us be happier, do better, and reduce our negative emotions.?Positive emotions feel good, and they're good for you.
One of the best ways to become happy and positive is to be appreciative of your life. ?You can genuinely increase your happiness and overall satisfaction with life by an inner change of perspective and attitude.
Choosing to notice, appreciate, and anticipate goodness is a powerful happiness booster. Teaching yourself to become more grateful can make a huge difference in your overall happiness.
?
?The best way to maintain consistent well-being is to focus on the everyday changes you can make in your life, with altruism, gratitude and quality relationships being important factors: happiness really?is?a journey and not a destination.?
