Don't Work With Us: Boost Your Messaging Instead

*This is part of the "Don't Work With Us Series" where we share all we know, so you don't need to work with us.?

Problems are More Powerful than Solutions

As many of you know, we're in the process of launching our first toolkit book “Goals To Gameplan ”.?

It has a ton of resources, and it’s a wonderful place to start to when you need to go from ideas to strategy. (Get it free HERE )

And it got me thinking...

Where do you start in building and strategizing a business?

Business isn’t linear, so neither are the steps.

Your specific path depends on your unique combination of who you are, where you entered the game, the unfair advantages you come with, and the clarity of your specific "What, When, Why and How."

That’s why we don't (and no one should) do cookie cutter solutions, tactics, courses, and hacks. Everything we do, paid or free, comes with personalized support,?because the details matter.?

But…

If we were to try to put the path to building a business?in order...

If we were to attempt to explain it in some sort of A to Z fashion...

What would that look like?

We’ve decided to test out a series called “Don’t Work With Us”

I’m going to share, in the most linear way possible, all things business and entrepreneurship.

All the steps, All the exercises, All the concepts.

If you follow the steps and do the work, then my theory says you won’t ever need to work with us.

Let’s go… DWWU #1

So You Wanna Start a Business

(Or build a new product)

You have an idea that’s just crazy enough to work, right?

I now picture the black and white TV images of Lucy & Ethel clapping their hands together in glee as they scheme another way into the Ricky’s show.?

So you got an idea, what’s next?

It’s definitely not making a website, working on a logo, or filing for a business license.

When you’re at this stage, you need to start with validation.

Are you really sure your good idea is a good idea?

First, understand that entrepreneurship at it's core is just?problem solving.

Most of us started with a frustration, a fire, or a missing piece of a puzzle.?

Then we figured out a way to fix it.?

In short, business starts at the problem.?

If you cannot articulate the problem you are solving, no one cares about your solution, which means?no one cares about your business.

(read that again)

People understand their problems more than the answers to them.

If you can show that you understand the problem too, they’ll be able to trust that you know how to fix it.

One of the first steps of validation?

Make sure you’re solving a problem.

Out of all the people that take us up on our Free Strategy Building Session , 96% answer incorrectly.

What problem do you solve?

  • “Helping people become confident.”
  • “Helping women achieve their desired wellness in mid life.”
  • “Empowering executives to break through limiting beliefs.”
  • “I help them find value in themselves and build a strong mindset”

All wonderful things, but...

THESE ARE NOT PROBLEMS, these are solutions.

When you state the problem, you state who you help.

Who’s that?

People with those problems.

Instead of spending hours perfecting all the details of your business into an magic sentence, aka:?elevator pitch,?write your problem statement.

A problem statement does not discuss the solution, only the problems and frustrations of those you help.

That might look like:

  • We help entrepreneurs that are sick of gimmicky tactics
  • We help overachievers that are drowning in ideas and lacking implementation
  • We help entrepreneurs that are done flying by the seat of their pants
  • We help entrepreneurs that are lacking a clear plan and process
  • We help solopreneurs that have no processes and systems to grow their business

Yours might sound like:

  • We help [target audience] that cannot…
  • We help [target audience] that struggle with…
  • We help [target audience] that don’t…
  • We help [target audience] that are tired of…

And yes, no matter what you do, you solve a problem.

  • Extravagant Party Planning: They don’t have the time, materials, know how or planning skills to create an event for themselves or loved one.
  • Confidence Coaching: Individuals suffer from low self-esteem and self-doubt, which hinder their ability to pursue opportunities and succeed in personal and professional settings.
  • Copywriting Services: Businesses struggle to engage their target audience and convert leads into customers due to ineffective messaging.
  • Brand Development: Businesses face intense competition and risk blending in with competitors, making it difficult to attract and retain customers.
  • Permaculture Training: Farmers and gardeners want to implement sustainable practices but lack the knowledge and skills needed to effectively transition.
  • Yoga Studio: Individuals experience stress and poor physical health due to sedentary lifestyles and lack of exercise options.
  • Artisan Craft Studio: Consumers struggle to find unique items with meaning and story among mass-produced goods
  • Fart Poetry & Haikus: People are tired of being told their humor is childish and and not worth laughing about and can't find a place to indulge. (yes, this was a real thing- Shout out to Sabrina)

So no matter where you are in your business, if you want to cut through all the noise out there: get clear on the problem you solve.

This will be a gamechanger for your messaging, when networking, on your website, in sales conversations, and overall in attracting the right audience for you.?

Who do you help?

People with [Fill in the Blank] problem.
