Don't waste your time with AI to land your next job. Land your next job in record time doing this instead

If you have been on LinkedIn much in the past two years you have seen the "dreaded green circle" that let's you know that a person is looking for a job. You have likely also read posts from people that are telling you that they have applied for hundreds of jobs and have been out of work for months. My guess is they are likely using AI and ChatGPT to apply for those jobs.

I have been in outside sales for 24 years with a strong track record of exceeding quota. Before entering the Salesforce ecosystem I had two jobs in 15 years. I entered the Salesforce ecosystem three years ago, and discovered quickly that it is a much more volatile market. This has put me in the job market THREE TIMES in three years.

The first time I was laid off, I did what everyone else does. I used AI to write cover letters and tweak my resume, and then I SPENT 40 HOURS a week applying for jobs. The first three weeks I was laid off, I was worn out. I had applied to numerous jobs and didn't even get a single interview. Just rejection letter after rejection letter.

That is when I had epiphany moment, which LEAD TO 3 JOBS OFFERS IN THREE WEEKS!

What did I do differently? I stopped applying to jobs. More specifically I stopped applying to any job that I didn't have a referral to. I started reaching out to my network letting them know I was looking for a job, and the type of job I was looking for. The next thing I knew I was getting warm introductions to companies, and interviews were flying in. I applied to LESS jobs, and set up more interviews. Over the next three weeks I ended up getting a job offer from a Salesforce implementation partner (referred by a former co-worker of mine), a job at SALESFORCE (referred by an RVP I worked with in the past), and a job running setting up and running a managed service division for a person I have known in the IT business for over 10 years. Plus I was close to two other job offers.

This isn't an isolated instance. The two other times I found myself looking for a job, I applied for less than 25 jobs and found my new home in under 2 months. Most of the time it was closer to three weeks. I also talked to a former coworker of mine that had been looking for a job for three months. We discussed the POWER of NETWORKING. He applied my principles and landed a job inside of three weeks with a 25% higher pay than his last job.
