Don't wait for opportunities... CHASE THEM!

The more and more I dive deeper into our re-branding efforts here at WPXT, WPME, and OurMaine.com, I am constantly reminded that we can't wait around for opportunities to come looking for us all the time... We must chase them and make our own opportunities!

One of the biggest pushes as we look forward to completing the new website is the fact that we need to have tons of original content!

I am talking videos, photos, blog posts, contests, etc... And the only way to create this content is to get out there and do it! I told myself this just yesterday and jumped in with both feet by heading out in the frigid temps, battling icy cliffs and slippery rocks to get some photos for use on our new site.

I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted those pictures you see of the perfect sunset with the beautifully placed lighthouse that hangs over the rocky cliffs taking your breath away... Well how the heck was I supposed to get that? Oh that's right, toughen up and make it happen! Those sunsets and sunrises are not going to wait until its a convenient time for you and the truth is, you may need to try multiple times until you get that image you were going for.

I did not get the dazzling, brightly colored sunset sky I was hoping for, but I did find some unique picture opportunities.

Here's one of my favorites from my icy cliff decent down to the slippery, algae covered rocks... SO WORTH IT!

After getting that image, I thought to myself "Wow, I think I am going to wake up at 4:00AM and catch the sunrise over Sebago Lake tomorrow morning..." And thats just what I did.

Was it cold? Yes, FREEZING! Was I tired? At first, yes, but once I was at the lake and watching the sun rise right before my eye, I rapidly became wide awake and felt more alive then ever!

For that moment in time, I was the ONLY person capturing that view. My toes were going numb and I couldn't feel my fingers, but that moment was mine!

Would I do it again?! OF COURSE!!

These are the opportunities that make you take a deep breath and truly live in the moment. There is no other feeling like it.

If you want great content, whether that be photographs, video or any other medium, you have to make it happen! Don't wait for it to come to you! Sometimes that may mean waking up at the crack of dawn or traveling to a remote location, but let me tell you what... You will NEVER regret taking that time to make that opportunity!
