Don’t Vote Yourself Off The Island

Remember the Survivor craze that started in 2000? I'll never forget sitting on a boat anchored at Catalina Island and watching an episode on a tiny tv that had an antenna I had to hold just right to watch the show.
I was captivated with the premise of who has grit, who forges alliances and who will be voted off the island. As I walked around Catalina Island I couldn't help but notice the parallels we have in the real world.
As leaders and influencers we need to develop grit
What do you mean, Sharon? I would never vote myself off!
You may not think you're voting yourself off, but believe me I talk to folks every day that do. To ensure you don't we need to look at your mindset
Well friend, what if you're not? What if you're capable of so much more and you really are selling yourself short
What if you're not believing the truth about who you are and what you're capable of because staying sorta small in your cubicle/office/life feels safe?
What if there is so much more for you and you will never taste the success
Here's a look inside:
How I Found My Treasure
I grew up with tremendous dysfunction. No, not “the kind of function that is full of fun” – more like crazy train, somebody needs to go to jail dysfunction. And I hid from my story for decades. I was ashamed, embarrassed, and afraid of what people would think of me if they knew the truth. I thought I was unworthy of success, love, the big break, and all the things I had wished for even though I had been successful in many areas of my life.

When I look back at my list of what I overcame, it reads like this: abused by the ones who should have protected me, parental abduction, being drugged and waking up in a garage, abandonment, homelessness, a high school dropout and a divorcee. But these are not the definition of who I am.
My highlight reel reads like this: a cover model, a fitness trainer, owner of an international home décor line, host of entrepreneurial events, award winning author, and podcaster. Which of these do you think I learned the most from? Would it surprise you to know both, but in completely unusual ways?
Both lists contributed to who I am and prepared me to be the hero of my story, which I didn't know until just a few years ago. Want to know what the game-changing question was? I thought you would never ask! It very well may be the key you are looking for too.
Does that resonate with you? Your story really is your superpower!
If you think you may have been waist deep in water and contemplating leaving the island, you need a pep talk from yours truly. I'm known as the what-if give you a pep-talk at the watercooler, you can do this don't you dare give up on yourself girl!
