“Don't be upset by the results you didn't get with the work you didn't do.”
Thanks for reading. This is the 38th edition.
Zig Ziglar is a quote machine-looking for more inspiration? Check out his work.
How can we get ahead? How can we get to our goal faster? Why are the results not the way we pictured or the way we want them?
If we re-trace our steps backwards we often come to the realization that we could have put in more work. And if that's the case, we can't be upset with the results.
There's most likely always more work we can do. We can work harder and more efficiently. We can fine tune our process.
We also can't let empty work fool us. Just because we are working hard, doesn't mean we are working smart or working towards the way of progress. We need to evaluate our process of work on a regular basis to make sure we are still moving in the right direction, towards the results we want.
I can think back of a couple (a lot) of times where I "thought" I was working my butt off and I was, but it wasn't even close to the "right" hard work. I was working in circles and was getting a false sense of security, eventually realizing I needed to re-evaluate the process and then work my butt off.

I heard an interview this week and someone was talking about how they were working and working and being frustrated because the results just weren't coming as fast as they thought. I think that is an ingredient in the recipe for success. It never comes as soon as we think. The people that get interviewed, that we want to hear from, are the ones that say this and then they follow it up with something like - "so I just kept working, I knew it was coming. Frustrating yes, but sweeter that I didn't give up."
We want results as quick as possible, but the real win is if we are still excited about the prospects and have confidence in our process and work ethic and we're working as hard as we can. If we have faith in our abilities and what we are working for, then the WIN is coming, it's just a matter of WHEN.
And I love thinking about the people that work hard for a while, get frustrated that it isn't happening for them yet and then they quit. Drives me harder.
And to bring it back - don't just expect results. Get back in the proverbial lab and get back to work so that good results will have no other choice than to follow you.
Go ahead, share this if you want. Now get back to work.
