Don't underestimate 'Small Steps'
?
When you spend a day at the gym and look yourself in the mirror, you will see nothing. You invest your entire week at the gym, you will still see nothing.
After a week, there will be two kinds of reactions. We can either quit or choose to believe this is the right course of action and stick with it.
It’s all about transitions. If you believe there is something there and commit yourself to act, it will happen eventually.?
Yes, you can sometimes screw it up. You can eat chocolate one day or you can skip a day or two. But if you stick with it consistently, you will start getting into shape. It is not about the events. It is not about intensity. It is about consistency.
We all know we should brush our teeth every day for three minutes, three times a day. Skipping one night of brushing won’t make a big difference. But if you skip for three months then your teeth will fall out. The consistency makes the difference.
On the other hand, the intensity rarely makes fundamental changes. Working out for straight nine hours will not get you into shape. You will notice the differences when you exercise 20 minutes every day.
As Theodore Roosevelt once said, nothing in this world is worth having unless it means pain and patience. There’s no such thing as a magical formula or a spectacular event that will solve your problem in a twinkle. It is the accumulation of all of those little things and efforts.
30 days? 60 days? 10,000 hours? I cannot tell you exactly how long. But if you stick to it and keep going, one day you will wake up and notice you have improved, changed for the better. ?
