The world is set up for extroverts. ?
The people that grab your attention. ?
That can make you feel good about yourself. ?
And can make you believe in them and their ideas. ?
This means that more often than not, introverts get a tough ride.? ?
They work behind the scenes and let the extroverts take all the credit. ?
Smart companies know that they need both of these people. ?
But it’s way more difficult to hire introverts because: ?
?? they often take longer to warm up to people
?? they don’t always know how to “sell” themselves?
?? they don’t always come across as enthusiastic in interviews?
?? they’re more likely to play down their achievements (or not even mention them) ?
This can make the interview process really tough. ?
It’s much harder to get a real read on their abilities. ?
But, we love interviewing introverts. ?
Why?
There is no sales pitch to wade through. ?
You just need to make them feel comfortable and ask the right questions.
Here are 4 tips for interviewing introverts
???? Include a skills-based element? ?
Often, introverts are extremely diligent and creative. ?
Give them a task that allows them to SHOW you what they can do.
???????? Make them feel comfortable ?
Take the pressure off. ?
? Lead with some light, fluffy chat at the start?
? Tell them a story to give them time to relax?
? Ask them chilled questions?
?? Brief them on the interview
It’s fine to give them a heads-up on what you’re going to ask.
For example; If you want to review their specific campaign achievements in the last five years - let them know in an email beforehand.
They will come prepared, and will likely impress you!

Speaking of silent assassins ??????
Meet Kelsey ??????
After getting her diploma in Marketing and Advertising Communications, Kelsey Livesey went on to exceed all expectations in our Linkbuilding and Digital PR course at the beginning of 2024.?
Kels is a woman of few words, but she ended up being one of our top performers. She landed an amazing job with one of our clients almost immediately after completing the course.
Here’s what our Programme Manager, Devona Mudaly , had to say about Kelsey;
“Kelsey is someone that you would think is very shy when you first meet her, but over the progression of the course, she really stepped into herself and became so much more confident."?
Her best qualities:
? She puts her all into her work
? She is the glue that will hold a team together
? She is highly proficient in terms of understanding and executing a task meticulously
? She's just all around such an awesome person.
Even the course facilitator, Milos Kozul , said that all the assignments she's ever submitted were absolutely top-tier.
?? The proof is in the pudding. Introverts are badass.
What we're saying is...
Before you think of hiring the most outgoing and charismatic candidate, consider having a second call with the silent assassin.
They might end up surprising you in a really good way! ?
We’re launching our second Linkbuilding cohort in July, so there will no doubt be another Kelsey to hire very soon.
