Don't Try This To Beat Job Search Ageism

Don't Try This To Beat Job Search Ageism

Many age 40+ job seekers use common tactics to try to beat ageism.

But most of these anti-ageism tactics fail, backfire, or even make ageism worse. So why do age 40+ job seekers still use them?

Because they think these tactics will work. After all, these failing tactics are still taught by outplacement and most career coaches/authors.

How many of these tactics to avoid ageism have you used?

  • Applying To Jobs Online: It's difficult to prove you're worth higher perceived compensation when you apply to jobs on job boards, company career pages, Linkedin, and through Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Hiding Dates To Hide Age: It doesn't work - ATSs and pre-screeners can easily see that you're hiding dates, and it's a reason for rejection. If you get a face to face (or video) interview, how can you overcome the difference between the age you portray on your resume and your real age (Instead, you give the first impression of deceit)?
  • Confronting Illegal Interview Questions: Some employers, regardless of the law, still ask illegal interview questions about age. If this happens to you, answer by describing the impact you can make, rahter than directly answering a question about age. But definately don't confron the interviewer, by calling out an illegal ageism question - That's not going to ever help you move forward in an employer's hiring process.

Instead of using tactics that fail to beat job search ageism, why not let me show you what works to overcome ageism in your search? While we're at it, I'll teach you many other strategies to find a great job fast during the recession.

This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers this March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November - every week since mid-March.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.

But I've been teaching job seekers to find a great job fast for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to find your next job by year end during the recession by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from a different perspective - an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find your next job by year end, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers or location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
