Our memories sometimes let us down. There are things we’re sure we have stored in our memory but just can’t recall, such as name of a known person or place. In the other hand we remember things perfectly although it is not repeated or well known!
Imagine that you met a group of old friends, you were talking about times and events in the past, walking through good and bad memories you had together… remembering what you have said and done…..
Suddenly one of your friends started to say that it is not happened! Or he/she didn’t do or say what you are remembering about him/her!
That is not happens because you are telling or remembering something bad about him/her, but because simply he/she remember that he/she did something different at that particular situation, or was behave in a different way in that period of time! In addition he/she would insist on his situation, even that all of your friends in that group telling that he/she is wrong!
Unfortunately this situation often leads to a conflict.
Our memory is changeable! We think we remember things or events, but in reality our minds are getting different memories from what actually happened. That is because our memories are influenced by the way we think and we feel now!
During long times, our believes may change and we may gain new lifestyle, new perceptions of life, new thoughts , different understanding about what is wrong and what is right or discover new ways of getting things done in life!
All these factors change through lifetime as a result of having more experience, getting older or even have a trigger events through our lives. It all affect the way we remember old things and events, so some “not all” memories would change according to our situations and perceptions now.
In contrast that is not meaning that we don’t or can’t remember old memories accurately, but this condition of the changeable memories is for unimportant memories or for memories which don’t have a great impacts in our lives.
