Don’t Trust Isaac Newton for Money Advice!

They say three apples changed the world, and one of them was Isaac Newton’s. Known for discovering the three laws of motion, Newton was one of the greatest minds in human history. However, in 1720, this brilliant mind decided to put his analytical genius to the test in the stock market. Long story short, he suffered a devastating loss, leading to his famous remark: “I can calculate the motions of the heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people”.
Recently, OpenAI released their new model, "o1," which has been quite impressive. In my opinion, it stands alongside GPT-4 as one of the most remarkable models yet. Many people have explored these models and highlighted their capabilities, but I was particularly impressed with the work of @Kyle Kabasares. He systematically challenged GPT-o1 with very complex physics equations, and the results were incredible. This demonstration showcases the immense power of AI models in addressing complex problems.
While this certainly increases confidence in AI’s ability to address challenges, we must remain cautious not to blindly trust these models. AI's success in solving complex physics problems is largely due to being trained on high-quality physics data. However, this may not apply to other domains like chemistry, astronomy, or humanistic fields such as language, religion, or history.
This is a call to non-AI experts to evaluate these models from their specific knowledge perspectives. If the models perform well, they will gain more credibility from domain experts. If they fall short—which is both normal and expected—this will highlight their limitations, helping AI developers address those gaps and improve the models further.

In all cases, whenever you consult an AI model, remember Isaac Newton’s story in the stock market. While history records Newton's significant financial loss, but what about those who followed in his footsteps, trying to mimic his “intelligent” actions? It's likely they not only lost their money but perhaps their faith in the power of "scientific" minds as well… don’t be one of them!
