Don't Touch....Wet Paint!
Top of the weekend my friends! Isn't it amazing that a sign like "Don't Touch Wet Paint" is a "warning" that brings out the rebel in us? By the way getting that paint off of your finger sometimes isn't that easy. is it?
Here's another one - Red Light means stop, Green light means go and Yellow light means hurry up because it's getting ready to turn Red.?
Okay the traffic manual says it means warning. So why do we speed up? Answer is we generally don't take "alerts" seriously.?
Did you know just before the pandemic AAA (Triple A) did a study that reported nearly a thousand (1000) people lost their lives trying to beat the yellow light. It's that "wet paint" attitude. I'm in a hurry, I can make it! Right?
"You'd better stop, the love you save may be your own! Darling, look both ways before you cross me. You're headed for the danger zone". Sorry I had a "Jackson 5" moment.?
More sinisterly though are our daily warnings. Amber alert means a child is missing or Silver alert an elderly loved one is has got to be lost. We can't locate where they are. I didn't know until recently we had a Blue alert. Which means someone tried to attack a police officer. Then of course "Weather" alerts!
This weekend, Hurricane Hilary prompts the first tropical storm watch for Southern California in over 80 years. The forecast is so dire that the "Angels vs Dodgers" baseball game has been made a Saturday double header. Just in case the weather forecaster is right.?
Ohhh!! By the way, just in case you missed that weather warning. The report says that in one day. They will surpass the amount of rainfall ever for that area. Even Las Vegas is expected to get hit with massive flooding. This is not another "Don't Touch Wet Paint" moment. Yet there will always be those who will try to beat the Yellow light. Right?
Here's one where recently most of us has probably gotten emotionally involved. Maui.?

In fact this week, Maui Emergency Management Administrator resigned a day after he defended not activating emergency sirens in response to the apocalyptic fire event.?
I watched his press conference intently. Guess why, he didn't "regret" not sounding the alarm??
Answer: in Maui when the "emergency sirens" are sounded. It generally means "Tsunami". "Residents of the island presumably would have run toward the fire and not away from it". Complicated but a bit distorted by time. This is hindsight report after the apocalyptic event. Which kinda lacked the feeling of remorse. Privately I'm sure it has got to be a different story.?
Over 100 have been found dead and 200 are still missing. The taciturn presumption is don't expect a favorable outcome.
A FEMA spokesperson told Newsweek that it had awarded more than $3.8 million so far "directly to Hawaiian survivors to use for things like housing and other needs. Look, no amount of money can fix this one. I hope and pray for them and that none of you will ever have to experience a moment like this one.
I'll close reminding you "Don't Touch Wet Paint" is a "warning" that brings out the rebel in us? By the way getting that paint off of your finger sometimes isn't that easy. is it? Donut ever forget it.

1 年Why do we look out of the window when we hear the tornado sirens? When we hear the fire alarm, why do we ask, "is this a drill?" The don't walk sign must be for someone else. The high water sign. There are so many, and yep that paint is hard to get off.
