Don’t tell me – show me!
Logic Recruiting
Logic Recruiting are a specialist recruitment firm operating across the UK & Ireland.
Working in recruitment naturally means that we see lots of CV’s and talk to lots of people every single day so we wanted to share some thoughts on what our clients like to see on a CV.
We know that technical skills are good to list however they aren't much use by just listing them on paper. It’s much better to illustrate them on particular projects you’ve worked on highlighting the details of the tech stack you used and showcase your work on a GitHub page which shows your capabilities immediately to the people who are hiring.
Letting hiring managers see examples of your work will really help you stand out.
Appreciate you can't just send a Linkedin profile and lots of links on your CV so you will have to get more personable. The more you can talk about “you” the better as people do hire on soft skills too which means that your personality, willingness, aptitude may well just land you the role over and above someone more technical than you. It does happen! ?
Make your CV relevant and stick to the last 5 yrs. If we need to see more and dig further – we’ll ask!
Fancy formatting doesn't help either! We know you’re trying to impress but the CV should be in word doc and simply list your skills, project examples and links to demonstrate your work along with your career history, education and other credentials. If you have to start downloading to open to your CV to read it, it may get frustrating at the receiving end!
