Don't tell anybody....

Ok, I used a picture of me on my first afternoon off at a local golf course as the set up picture. I'm not "sssshhhhhing" the fact I take mulligans while playing alone (it's been 3 years since playing).

I wanted to share some secrets, some you may already be aware. These are from my years of experience with workforce, at-risk youth, drug intervention, domestic violence prevention and other interactions. The * means there's more at the bottom of the article. I tackle many in my first book "Just Deal With It?" and others in my next book.

#1 We got to get HONEST about the good, the bad and the ugly. Nothing will change until we do that.*

#2 Application of truth is real power, not knowledge.*

#3 There are real efforts to keep people ignorant.*

#4 Some people don't want to work. Sssshhhhh...*.

#5 Pay attention to business owners, they sign the checks.*

#6 Mike Rowe is Right.

#7 Pitiful parenting continues to be the main reason our students & schools are failing.

#8 Pouring more money into failing programs won't fix the problem.

#9 Ladies...you don't have to put up with an abusive boyfriend/husband. You really don't.

#10 Stop blaming everyone else and take personal responsibility for your self.

#11 There are consequences to decisions made and circumstances happen outside of our control...it's called life.

#12 Teenager...your mental capabilities don't fully develop until you're between 21-25, so be mindful of what you do.

#13 "It takes a village"...show me pictures of the village first.*

#14 Workforce programs CANNOT be another "social services" program.

#15 Nobody is perfect, we all make mistacks. Admit, forgive yourself, learn from it and get going again.

#1* From the first chapter in my book "He's Naked": "We’ve seemed to have lost that edge in America. I know that’s a broad brushed statement. When you review from the White House to our house, being uncompromising seems to have taken a back seat to being “right”, politically correct and accepted. We promote the hype instead of the hope. #2 *We have so many resources for information (much not vetted), but do they bring positive change? Quoting my carpenter friend, "be doers of the word, not hearers only". From my book again, "Knowledge is not power, the application of truth is." I still see company's value words...yet not put in practice. So say what you want, until I see application that produces positive results, you sound like Charlie Brown's teacher.

#3*(another example in my book from the Beverly Hillbilly illustration of Mr. Drysdale). He controlled the money and didn't want Jed knowing everything. Take a look, really, what would happen if we peal away the layers of deceit, lies, mental manipulation and political correctness? You know one religion didn't want the Bible available for their followers...so THEY maintained control. Since 1611, things haven't been the same.

#4 *yes, it's true. We went from an enabling government style and programs that made money in keeping people in the poverty cycle. Now there are thousands of jobs available in many areas of the country. My next book has a chapter tackling the "self sabotaging unemployed clients".

#5 *They pay, they set the rules. If they don't you on the phone, then grow up and put it away. If they can't depend on you due to your "I want to work only when I want to work" mentality, you're fired. If they don't want you coming in under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, "get help or you're fired".

#13 *It does take a collaboration of organizations to fix and get our communities healthy. I hear about "partnerships", but if there are no results, it's just another club.
