Securing well-trained and highly experienced workplace operations people from a specialist provider is an excellent way to create that positive first impression. But, select the wrong service provider and it could cost you a fine more than half a million dollars.
Why
To better protect workers from exploitation and improve the integrity and transparency of the labour hire sector, Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia have each set up a labour hire licensing scheme.
What’s the risk
In Victoria, engaging someone who is not licenced under the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 to supply labour can cost an individual 800 penalty units ($128,952) or a corporation 3,200 penalty units ($515,808).
What you can do
Ask your supplier to provide you a copy of their licence or check on the relevant website for your State. In Victoria, the website is https://labourhireauthority.vic.gov.au/
What you should not do
You should not take legal advice from us. We are licenced to supply labour, but not qualified to provide legal advice. Beyond this simple due diligence, you should seek qualified legal advice for your specific circumstances.
