Don't stop at the shirt

Do you pay as as much attention to your personal brand as you do to the way you dress?

When I ask clients why they chose what they are wearing, I get many different responses:

  • They were the only clothes ironed
  • It’s what I wear when I work
  • They make me feel good
  • Others say I look good in pink
  • My partner buys them for me.

Some people pay a lot of attention to the clothes they wear, others seem not to care.?

I am as far removed from the fashion police as you can imagine.?When I Iook at pictures of what I wore when I was younger, I think I fall into the 'these were the first things I saw when I woke up’ category.

With my next question “do you use the same criteria when building your brand as a leader?”, I get very different responses.?

Even the most discernible dresser spends very little time thinking about how others see them as a leader.

Most rely on chance, being good at what they do and hope that that is enough.?

When you’re building a reputation as a leader, hope is not a good strategy.?Working out what is important to you and managing that narrative is a better strategy.?

This strategy alone has helped many of my clients build the right reputation that has got them invited into higher profile and more exciting projects than they thought possible.?

Check out my newsletter next month and find out how to improve your reputation and build the leadership brand that will get you noticed for the right reasons.
