Don't SPAM. Give away value instead.

This is my Newsletter series on LinkedIn where I aggregate the best content from business influencers each week. I do it because I like bringing attention to people who are adding value here. If you enjoy it, you can hit the "subscribe" button to get this automatically every Monday and start building a bigger and better LinkedIn network.

LinkedIn family, I'm trying a few new things this week to see if there is additional value to my audience. First and foremost, I'm delivering this newsletter on a Monday rather than Sunday. I'm testing to see what the engagement looks like and if more people will enjoy the newsletter during the week. Feel free to leave me some feedback - Sunday or Monday?

The second change to the newsletter comes at the end, where I'll be featuring unique business articles and resources that I've stumbled upon from across the web, outside of LinkedIn. I'm a huge fan of the Google Chrome extension called, Pocket, which I've been using to save meaningful articles each week. I'm looking forward to sharing them with you.

If you're a Founder, sales leader or salesperson that needs some help, feel free to follow me on LinkedIn & Twitter. I share tactical information for salespeople and high-level strategy for sales leaders and founders.

In this week's content, we'll cover:

  • Why adding value vs. "giving to get" is the ultimate content strategy
  • A group of 50 LinkedIn "Rockstars"!
  • The power of being unique and standing out
  • How LinkedIn can impact your business
  • The "greatest sales pitch of the year"
  • The scientific approach to SDR goals
  • How to run effective meetings

The content this week comes from Brandon Bornancin w/ Gary Vaynerchuk, Brenda Meller (Zawacki), Quentin Allums, David Rosendahl, Andy Raskin, Tito Bohrt, and Amy Gallo. If you're not following these folks, do it now.

LinkedIn Content

My fellow Ohio native, Brandon Bornancin, got the week kicked off right by sharing an awesome video of him and his team chatting it up with Gary Vaynerchuk. The title of my newsletter this week comes from a nugget in the video that I'll hold onto, which was the part where he discussed people that consume his content, love it, and never buy anything from him. As a business owner who is creating content, you need to be comfortable giving away a significant amount of value and not always getting paid by everyone who benefits from it. If your content is good enough and valuable enough, you can still build a $10M business.

If you're looking for the best sales leads platform, you can learn more about seamless.ai here.

Brenda Meller (Zawacki) is someone that I started following a few months back because of the awesome weekly #LinkedInROCKSTARS report she sends out each Saturday. These are folks who add a TON of value to LinkedIn, and Brenda takes the time to curate this impressive list. If you're looking to learn more about how to leverage LinkedIn as a platform, I'd highly recommend following her.

I thought this video by Quentin "Q" Allums did a really good job encapsulating how uniqueness can be an incredible differentiator when SO many people are vying for attention online. He found an article of clothing that spoke to him and resonated with his brand, added it to his wardrobe, and it became instantly recognizable. I think about some of the other folks on LinkedIn who do a great job of this, like Sam Nelson with his blue hair and Gabe Villamzar with his backward hat.

Remember - take a chance and make yourself stand out. Cut through the noise and be unique.

I enjoyed this post by David Rosendahl because it does a really good job of capturing why I use LinkedIn every single day. LinkedIn has gone from a business platform to a full-fledged social media community. Every day on LinkedIn I meet new customers, new potential employees, partners, etc. Some of the brightest people I've spent time with have been random connections. Check out David's post below to see how his business has benefitted from the platform.

If you aren't using it every day to grow your career or business, what the hell are you waiting for?

Resources from around the web

Starting this week, I've decided to begin curating some of the best business content that I come across from popular blogs or sites outside of LinkedIn, and shining some light on the people that have taken their time to create them.

The first article comes from Andy Raskin, and it's a MUST read for any founder, sales leader, or marketing leader. Listen, there is a reason that Drift is a monster SaaS business, and part of that reason is because of the amazing pitch put together by their team.

Read this article if you want to create an insanely compelling narrative for your product or service.

If you're a salesperson or sales leader and you're looking for incredible resources online, Sales Hacker is one of the best places to spend your time. They do a great job of using data to break down many of the challenges that salespeople and sales leaders face, and this article is no exception. It's written by Tito Bohrt, the CEO of Altisales, and it focuses on the scientific approach to setting goals for your SDR team. Given that the top of the funnel is on the top of everyone's mind, I'd suggest giving it a read today.

One area of personal development that I've focused on is how I conduct meetings at work. When things get busy, my meetings tend to get sloppy. I was doing some research last week and came across this great article by Amy Gallo, which gives 7 researched rules for having productive meetings. I'm excited to begin implementing these this upcoming week to see how much more effective I can be.
