Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself: Reflections on 2024 with CEO Alex Dick
As the year comes to a close, it’s easy to look back at 2024 and feel like you didn’t quite hit every target you set for yourself. If you didn’t achieve everything you hoped to this year, I have one message for you: don’t be so hard on yourself.
I had some big goals for 2024.
Some, I achieved. Some, I barely even started. Some were a big, fat fail.
And you know what? That’s okay.
Life is constantly changing. Priorities shift. Sometimes, the goals you set out to accomplish no longer align with your purpose or what you truly need—and that’s not failure. It’s growth.
When I take a step back and look at the year as a whole, there are so many other ways my year was successful. Some wins weren’t even on my radar when 2024 started. That’s the beauty of it: it’s unpredictable, and success often comes in forms we don’t expect.

Perspective Matters
Over the next few days, you’ll likely see plenty of posts celebrating big wins—people sharing all the incredible things they’ve achieved. That’s great, and we should cheer them on. But remember, most of those posts won’t include the things they didn’t accomplish.
It’s part of life.
No one hits every goal perfectly. And even if they did, they might still have things they wished they’d done differently.
A Balanced Look at Success
Instead of focusing solely on what didn’t happen, try taking a balanced look at your year. What did you learn? How did you grow? What moments brought you joy, even if they weren’t part of your original plan?
Wins don’t always come from ticking boxes on a goal list. Sometimes they come from simply making it through a tough period, finding clarity about what really matters, or showing up when it wasn’t easy.
As we move into 2025, let’s celebrate the full picture—not just the wins, but also the lessons, the pivots, and the progress we made along the way.
