You guys, Moderna is making some BIG moves! Oh Yeahh!!! Moderna, the company behind the COVID-19 vaccine, has decided to trim its research and development budget. The company announced they're cutting expenses by a whopping $1.1 billion by 2027 and expecting 10 new product approvals in the next few years! These products are aimed at treating RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and cancer, plus a combined COVID and flu vaccine.
Shares of Moderna tanked over 12% after this announcement! ????Ouch! Investors seem worried as the company plans to reduce its R&D spending from $4.8 billion this year to $3.6-$3.8 billion by 2027. This change means Moderna will focus on its later-stage trials and scale back new R&D investments.
In other words, instead of spending a lot of money to make brand-new medicines, they're going to focus on the medicines that are almost done and ready for people to use soon. They won't start as many new projects for now, so they can save money but still finish what they already started.
The almighty iPhone 16 has finally been launched… after the long wait???? CEO Tim Cook kicked off the event saying they’re “thrilled” (so thrilled ???? indeed) about the first iPhones designed from scratch for AI. ?? The iPhone 16 comes with customizable camera controls and a big focus on privacy with its Apple Intelligence initiative. However, the AI features won’t be available in Chinese and Spanish until next year.? Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 10 with a sleek new design and a sleep apnea detector, and new AirPods with USB-C charging and AI integration SAMSUNG USERS RIGHT NOW:
Shares of Apple dropped 1% during the event. This was after a slight dip earlier in the day and went against a general gain in the tech-heavy Nasdaq index. Historically, Apple’s stock normal normal underperforms on the day of their September iPhone launches.? Despite the recent stock dip, Apple has been performing well overall, with a 14% rise in stock since June. Yet, the company is coming off its weakest iPhone sales quarter since 2021. ??
