Don't Shoot The Messenger

Following on from my last article, "Playing the Ball, Not The Man" Rediscovering A Lost Art Form of Civil Discourse" I was heartened to read #KatherineTimpf 's article in the National Review, "Kamala’s Attack on Tulsi Is What’s Wrong with America". Looking at the Democratic debates as an Australian, I struggle to understand why they turned on one of their own. Maybe I'm missing something and just don't get it or just fail to understand why they insist on blind party loyalty. Have we not learned anything from protecting a brand over and above the well being of others? Just ask the Catholic Church how that worked out for them. Whether it's a political party or a PTA, if you raise an issue or a concern you automatically become "that parent or person" a pariah. If you continue to persist after they give you notice, then they will circle the wagons, attempt to discredit you and cast you out, all to protect a brand rather than address issues. I admire the courage it takes to stand up to a "perceived" majority and put at risk your sense of belonging to do what is right rather than what is popular, after all this is what is at the heart of the #couragetobekind campaign. Our voice is the best weapon in our arsenal to counter those who wish to push their agenda or narrative that only serves a few. No doubt they will seek to silence you through censorship, exclusion and or misinformation. We need to stand up for those whose voice is under threat not because we agree with them but because its every human beings basic right. Beware those who attempt to silence others because they are the ones driven by fear.
