If you've forgotten to save some protein sample as a control after you've injected it onto a size-exclusion column to purify it, take the metal needle off the Luer syringe you used to inject it.?
There will be a few microliters in the neck of the syringe that didn't make it onto the column. You can collect this using a clear pipette tip to run on your PAGE gel and generally pretend nothing went wrong.
