Don't regret for being right.
You are free to choose your thoughts and actions. How you think, decide?and act in a given scenario is completely your choice. But you cannot decide the consequences of your thoughts and actions.?
In life, there is no rewind and replay. You cannot re-live any movement of your life to correct a mistake. Regardless of how well you plan, certain things will happen spontaneously. And all that happens in life need not have be pleasant.?
Even with that being said, you don't have to worry about your wrong decisions as long as you did what was right at the given time. Perhaps you selected the right path and you are worrying about not selecting the wrong one. This is probably because you didn't get what you wanted even after selecting the right path. Or, you are not enjoying your life the way you wanted and regret your decisions which led to it.
You cannot predict your future. Marrying a rich men or women instead of someone poor, or the other way round will not guarantee a happy life. You could be someone who said no to an opportunity because you wanted to be with your ailing child or wife. Ignoring your loved ones for achievements will often make you regret it.?
Your achievements shouldn't be through betrayal. It is true that your achievements will have limitations, if you value such ideas.?Those who achieve a lot through the wrong ways will not enjoy their life much. But if you do only the right thing, then your losses are going to be limited. Do good and good will come to you.
Scenario-1
In 1958, China under Mao Zedong ordered extermination of sparrows. This is because they found that the sparrows eat 4.5 kilograms of grain per year. The death of sparrows increased pests such as locusts and they destroyed all the crops. It led to famine in China. 55 million Chinese died of famine. What was done with great ambition turned out to be a big blunder.?It was against the laws of the natural food chain. It is a scenario where one should regret for being wrong.?
Scenario-2
A few decades ago, we did large scale deforestation, used coal-fired engines and power plants. Later we started using petrol, diesel and natural gas. We were least bothered about negative impacts on nature. Now we are replacing it with renewable energy.
We don't want to regret it, because they were great inventions of the time. Even with all the damage it caused to nature, we still accept that what we are today is because of these inventions.
Scenario-3
A woman getting married to a successful businessmen will think that she took the right decision. She may regret it after a year or two,?if she cannot adjust with the guy anymore. Divorce will make her cringe. After some time, she may find someone who will understand her better.?
Her painful divorce helped her to get rid of her husband who was unbearable. She could have gone through a lot of stress, anxiety and depression, if she chose to stay with him. She also wouldn't have met someone better in her life.
Here is an exercise which you can try on one of your weekends for an hour. Think of movements in your life where you took important decisions. Think of what could have been the result, if you were to do the opposite of what you did. If you find what you did was right at that point of time, then you don't have to regret it. It is because you went with the best available option. This is not meant to justify your losses. It is to convince yourself that you did the right thing.
Don't regret for being right, because you live in a world where people don't regret for being wrong.
