Don't Play the Victim
Focus on what you can control.
That seems self-evident. But if we look at our lives, a majority of our mental energy goes to the things we can’t control. That circumstance at work. That situation with family. The words that person said.
But those things are beyond our control. Other people and most circumstances are simply not in our control. Even worse, focusing on those things makes us feel like a victim. It makes us feel powerless. And we can’t enjoy our life if we feel powerless.
Even though those things are beyond our control, there is one thing that is always in our control. Our thoughts. We can control our thoughts about our circumstances. We can control the story we tell ourselves (and others) about the situations that have happened.
By controlling our thoughts, we can control our feelings…because our thoughts produce our feelings. And by controlling our feelings, we can control our actions…because our feelings drive our actions. And by controlling our actions, we can eventually produce our results…because our actions produce our results.
We don’t really need to feel powerless at all…because by controlling our thoughts we can produce in your life exactly what we want. In fact, the results we are getting right now are being produced by the thoughts we have been thinking.
We have the power. We aren’t victims. And the power rests in our thoughts.
