Don't Panic. Don't be an alarmist. Don't stock up on toilet paper.
What I can't understand - refuse to accept as 'okay' - is the chaotic selfishness that can quickly engulf communities.

Don't Panic. Don't be an alarmist. Don't stock up on toilet paper.

Firstly, close your eyes and take a deep breath. Open your eyes. And repeat.

Now, whilst we cannot control what decision-makers across the globe and in Australia are discussing right now, we can control our personal choices. We need to be stronger, smarter and more considerate, as an entire community.

We are in relatively unchartered waters as a global community, so I understand the angst and confusion. What I can't understand - refuse to accept as 'okay' - is the chaotic selfishness that can quickly engulf communities.

I think it is important to say that many businesses are still running, and many Australians are still operating normally. Everyone should be actively paying attention to updates by government officials and employers but, there are a few practical things that are worth pointing out:

1. Be smart. Don’t panic, don’t be an alarmist, don’t stock up on fucking toilet paper. Australia has enough food to feed the country, but not if everyone stocks up on 50% more food than they need right now. Make smart decisions, but think about how your actions may affect others in this climate.

2. God knows how long this will last, so start preparing. Think about how you can work remotely where possible. Think about the trips you DON'T HAVE to make. Think about the local businesses you can afford to support in this period, then actually support them.

3. Seek financial advice. Particularly if you’re running a business, now is an important time to prepare, plan and structure your business the right way.

4. Be hygienic. Just wash your hands regularly, and if you’re ill make sure you self contain or seek help from appropriate places.

I've often said: Tough times don’t last, tough people do. I’ll add: “Tough AND smart people do.”

Let’s band together. We all have a part to play in combating the spread of COVID-19.

Let's be smart. Let’s support each other at the local level. Let's #keepaustraliastrong

The funny thing is the significant hoarders don't subscribe to LinkedIn. So pointless posting and commenting here. Unless we are poking fun at those people (some of which I remind you may be our families).
