Don’t Overthink
Overthinking kills… here’s why.
We live in a fast world. The world of technology. The world of social media. This world is like none-other that humankind has experienced before — it’s connected, it’s fast, and it doesn’t wait for anyone.
These days, speed is the name of the game, so every moment spent on something other than going is a moment wasted.
That’s where not-overthinking comes in. When you overthink, you spend precious time on things that don’t matter. Thinking, yes. Overthinking, no.
Overthinking is the equivalent of ruminating and worrying. It’s born out of fear and has never been conducive to success.
Thinking is fine until you get to a breaking point. The breaking point happens when you’ve made a decision AND THEN you keep going on thinking past the decision. As soon as you do that, you’re in the danger zone, and things get freaky.
When you go from thinking to overthinking, you no longer are letting your mind work the way it was supposed to. You’re no longer basing your decision-making on logic and knowledge, but rather on emotion and fear.
When overthinking happens you doubt yourself, you go over things you’ve already solved, and overall it’s just one big mess.
If you think about it (no pun intended) you’re not only wasting your time on a decision you’ve already made, but you’re also making sure that you hate thinking in the first place. When you spend too much time in your head, you start hating thinking altogether, not to mention losing touch with reality and what’s important.
It’s true when you’re lost in your head, you’re no longer paying attention to the things that matter. And that is the biggest problem of them all.
This week, do yourself a favour, be more decisive, and stop overthinking.

3 年I have noticed that overthinking is just superficial symptom of not being okay with uncertainty. If you do anything new in life you have to embrace uncertainty. That way you will gain courage and confidence to face unknown and move from overthinking to action. It's so much more rewarding to take action, learn fast and iterate instead of spending days, weeks or months in anxiety and stress. Only one thing is certain and that is uncertainty.
