I found some new heroes this past summer while photo editing for Douglas Brinkley's latest book, Silent Spring Revolution: John F Kennedy, Rachel Carson, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and the Great Environmental Awakening. Two of them were Stewart Udall, who served as Secretary of the Interior under JFK and LBJ, and Justice William O. Douglas, who was nominated by FDR and served a term that lasted more than 36 years.
