Don’t mean nothing (The Candidate version)
Don’t mean nothing (The Candidate version)
So, for some reason I have been reliving life in the 80’s music scene. It was the height of summer when I had the top down and started listening to a new singer Richard Marx. He was a great singer and writer in my humble opinion. The songs were emotional with a side of foot tapping and great riffs. Although he was mainly a piano player he could hit the guitar well or at least knew how to right for the players.
Since I, once again do not know how to write music and would rather write about my strange life you should have some fun. A new hobby has been pulling a weird Al Yankovick and sort of manipulate the words. So, this little ditty is in the version of his hit song Don’t Mean Nothing from his debut album. When you sing along to the song, and you know you want to in the comfort of your own home or office pop on youtube and play the song then and use the lyrics below. And go!
Don’t Mean Nothing
Welcome to the big time.
You're bound to be a star
And even if you don't go all the way,
I know that you'll go far
This race is for rats, it can turn you upside down
Ain't no one you can count on in this sleazy little town, Oh no
Lots of promises in the dark
But don't you open your heart
Cause it don't mean nothin'
The words that they say
Don't mean nothin'
These games that recruiters play
No, it don't mean nothin'
No victim, no crime
It don't mean nothin'
Till you sign it on the dotted line
The recruiter smiles as you walk in the door
He says, "I love your work, babe" but
You're just not what we're looking for
It's never what but who it is you know
So easy to get stuck in all that resume snow
Take a good look around and you'll find
People tryin' to mess with your mind
Cause it don't mean nothin'
The words that they say
Don't mean nothin'
These games that recruiters play
No, it don't mean nothin'
No victim, no crime
It don't mean nothin'
Till you sign it on the dotted line
A job search can be so lonely
Make you the winner of a losing fight
But the searching is never over
Cause the resumes are always shining
Doesn't matter if it's day or night
The recruiter says, "let me change a line or two"
And a little bit of something can look awfully good to you
And you want to scream, but you gotta keep it all inside
When you're trying to find a job,
There ain't no such thing as pride, no
Lots of promises in the dark
But don't you open your heart
Cause it don't mean nothin'
The words that they say
Don't mean nothin'
These games that these recruiters play
No, it don't mean nothin'
No victim, no crime
It don't mean nothin'
Till you sign it on the dotted line
It don't mean nothing at all
