Don't make things harder for yourself....

Don't make things harder for yourself....

During the past few weeks, I’ve been having some deep and meaningful conversations with musicians who are ready to bring in change in their lives (like my MPU program, which starts on Feb 15), they have wonderful goals and dreams, they are committed to improving the way they live, and to become financially empowered by infusing their creative side into the process.

Yet, when they are faced with the moment to decide to join my program and take the first bold step in creating that change, they FREEZE and think they need to make this happen before they can start their journey with me in my program. They decide they want to give it a try and create their own offers, enroll their first few clients successfully, and only THEN would feel ready to join my program.

This reminds me of an example of someone who would want to lose weight and goes to a weight loss specialist, and after discussing the specialist’s systems, proven strategies, and experience that would allow this person to reach their weight loss goals, the person decides all of the sudden that they will first go lose 20 lbs and after that will join the weight loss program.

As you can tell, this is a contradiction.

This doesn’t mean that people couldn’t achieve their own wins on their own - I always like empowering people to know that they are capable of achieving whatever they want.

I’m a firm believer in empowerment and creating opportunities for people.

I just wonder why people would want to take the long route, and why would they want to go back and continue experimenting and trying to do things on their own - especially at this point in their lives.

When in reality, the fact that we are even having this conversation is because they have potentially already tried and it hasn’t worked yet.

They are coming to me and taking the time to engage with my content and have a conversation about their goals is because they know they want to improve their lives, or have a problem that they know they want to fix.

Yet, when faced with the decision to take the step they suddenly feel they need to have this problem already solved before they can join an experience like my 6 month program.

There is a lack of integrity and a contradiction between what they say they want with what they are actually willing to do.

This is an alert system that we can all recognize: when are we actually in integrity with ourselves.

When we are aligning what we want with what we are willing to do to manifest that thing to actually make it happen.

When making this decision, musicians are consciously making the choice to take the long road, the hard route, and THAT is what will end up costing them much more in the long term. To name a few:

  1. The cost of inaction
  2. The cost of not reaching that financial independence
  3. The cost of continuing to depend on their existing limiting situations - whether its a job that they don’t want, whether its a dependency on a family member that they are ready to evolve out of, whether its any sort of stressful situation that causes them pain and discomfort in their day-to-day lives - by deciding to wait, they are choosing to prolong that
  4. The cost of prolonging that will end up being much more significant, life-changing, and in many ways damaging, than the initial investment idea, or leap of faith, of the feeling of boldness and bravery, and courage that it takes - because it does take courage

From a psychology perspective, we are so used to taking the neural pathway that is comfortable.

It can seem easier to do things that are hard, but familiar, like for someone to struggle through something it's hard, but it can seem easier to deal with the struggle that we know about than to be willing to dive into the unknown.

As creative and entrepreneurial musicians, it can be very tempting to be in a constant trial and error cycle that can eventually get us to where we want to be but can be very time-consuming, energy-draining, and even costly in the long run.

When we chose to place ourselves in an environment of support, guidance, and accountability, the possibilities of success end up becoming much more attainable, enjoyable, and realistic.

This happened to one of my clients, Dr. Denise Ritter, Author, Coach, Professor, and Director of Vocal Studies at Radford University.

Denise wanted to create a unique offer that combined all the elements of her professional skills and personal interests. At first, she too struggled to find a way to make room for this experience in her life from both a financial and time perspective. Yet, it was her determination to step into a new way of living and to put herself as a priority that led her to shift things around to make space in her life and join the program.

She found a way to become resourceful in order to invest in herself and join the program that she knew would allow her to create the change she wanted in her life.

In her own words:

“What I’ve come to discover and what I’ve since found out about myself is that really we afford anything we want to afford and I just made the necessary adjustments in my own finances in order to pay for Fabiana and to pay for her amazing program and I’m so glad that I did…..Fabiana has been a great sense of support and a great sense of peace because it is a rollercoaster ride when you decide to break out and do something like this.”

By joining The Musician's Profit Umbrella? group coaching program, Denise was able to gain the clarity she needed to create an offer based on her own passions, interests, and prioritizing what is important to her.

She learned how to effectively communicate the value of her work, create a high-ticket offer, she started working with premium-paying clients, all while feeling a great sense of focus, support, and peace along the way.

You can watch her full testimonial here.

So, my question to you today is:
