Your Perspective Can Be Your Prison Or It Can Be Your Passport
"Your perspective will either become your prison or your passport. It will either confine you to the way things are or launch you into the way things are meant to be.” - Steven Furtick.
Often, when we feel stuck, unsure about what’s next, and like we have no purpose, our anxiety takes over and spirals into this cycle of fear, overthinking, self-doubt, and trying to control things that are not ours to control.
We start worrying and questioning our purpose and meaning.
And so, we think “What if I never get unstuck?", "What if I never figured it out?", "What if I never figure out what I'm supposed to do next?", "What if I die and I wasted all this time?", "What if I never figure out who I was or what I was meant to be?"
Dr. Martha Beck, considered to be the #1 Life Coach in the world, tells us that it is the OPPOSITE of our worst thoughts that allows us to walk into the zone of the human imagination at its most creative to solve any problem we have.
When we are aligned with our creative energy, we are not able to get into this spiral of anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt. When we are creating, when we are making (and not only doing), we allow ourselves to be in charge of creating our lives. And you will start making things, you will make art, communities, friends, and cakes, and you will make a life in the process.
Whenever you feel stuck, ask yourself instead: "Where am I free?"
Find the places where you are free. Find the places that make the tightness in your chest go down that allow you to breathe deeply and release, and that bring freedom into your experience, and ask yourself: Does this feel a little bit better, freer, truer? And lean into those.
What if instead of saying "If I lose this, horrible things will happen to me". You say "If I let go of this, amazing wonderful things will happen to me.”
What if instead of saying "What if I never get unstuck? You say "I will always get unstuck because I'm always in motion and moving."
What if instead of saying "I will never figure out what I'm supposed to do with my life". You say "I will always figure it out because I have figured out everything in my life before.
Your perspective can become your passport when you allow yourself to open your mind, heart, and soul to see the world in new ways. When you embrace your curiosity and broaden your horizons. When you lean into the unknown and embrace the ambiguity and contrast of our lives. When you start focusing on the things you can control and not only on the external circumstances you cannot control. And when you allow yourself to reinvent yourself and become more confident in who you are and in who you can become.
Applaud the experience of being stuck, feeling like your life doesn’t fit, or having no purpose. Because that simply means you are ready for your next step, that you are ready for the change that is coming.
Welcome the transformation and shift the conversation with yourself from "What do I do now?" to "What do I make now? What can I create now?
Awake your creativity, activate your imagination, and instead of thinking about anxiety, stuckness, and isolation (which only generates more anxiety, stuckness, and isolation), start thinking about what gives you joy, what makes you feel abundant, what gives you freedom and calms your nervous system, and you will start creating more of that in your life.
Because we are endlessly creative beings and we generate more of what we focus on.
"Don’t look at the goalie, look at the spaces."
The moment you start creating, the moment you start focusing your energy in creating, your whole brain will be different and then, your whole life will be different.
