Don't live to impress but to express

This is a very simple quote which can be implied at different situations. Like social work when I have seen people who do social work just to show off. They are not grateful to the society. In turn they work for applause, for fame and sometimes for money. These people try to impress or get an impression among their circle. They initially pass, eventually fail.

Also professional Work by one of the bosses I worked for, promises things that one could never imagine. It was a thing that happened only in review meeting. The reason he did was obviously not to motivate the team. It was to make sure people liked him. We did like him in the beginning, but now I doubt if I do. Further more I have seen people inclined towards materials. They posses things that were supposed to be of no use, but posses it just because "Every tom, dick and harry has it". Here you try to impress. But you, lose your identity.

Also personal Shift and when my brother brings his friends to home, I happened to notice a weird thing. They would not talk with each other. But once in a while I would hear the Whatsapp message tone. On further notice, I found that my brother and his friends were actually conversing through Whatsapp despite being in the same room.

May be people don't want to connect anymore, they want to feel connected while they isolate themselves. You want to isolate yourself and feel connected, but that's hard considering your friends progress. That leaves you isolated and disconnected. And life should not be lived according to the society's standards and norms alone. Because if this so happens, it only leads to an understanding that our lives can just be easily controlled by others.

That we are just like actors and actresses in a stage play with our every movement being judged by spectators and that we should be careful in choosing our every move and be sure that our next steps would be accepted, liked and applaud by everyone watching even if it means for us not living our own lives, even if it means for us not to pursue our passions and do what we wanted to do from the very beginning.

By this quote, it reminds us that doing what you have always wanted to do and are destined to do should be the utmost purpose of our lives than wasting most of our years trying to please everybody. To live and act in a way that is true to who you are instead of trying to project an image that is based on what other people think are worthy of esteem.

Being yourself or being authentic means not pretending you are more than you are, not pretending you are different to impress people. Some people argue that to “be yourself” means to not care what other people think, those people are wrong and are not being themselves because “being yourself” is not about a relation with other people, it's about a relation with yourself. "Being Yourself" or "Being Authentic"doesn't mean you should stop caring what other people think. You can be yourself and be authentic and still care what others think. Because being yourself is about not pretending you are more than you are.

But be yourself means and don’t try to pretend you are rich, you have tastes you don’t have, you have everything handled when you don’t have, you are better at something than you actually are, you have hobbies you don’t actually have, you have skills you don’t actually have, you have a status you don’t actually have, and so on.
