Don’t listen to others, believe in your own capabilities. You can if you think you can. If you don't believe in yourself you quit, but don't you?

Yes, you heard me right!
I asked you a question and the answer depends on YOU.
Are you purpose driven?
Do you believe in your capabilities?
Do you think you can achieve fulfillment?in what you do?
Do you think you live a purpose-driven rewarding life?
I remember a story my manager told me about Hot Dogs.
There was a man who lived by the side of the road and sold Hot Dogs.?He was hard of hearing so he had no radio. He had trouble with his eyes so he read no newspapers and of course, he didn’t watch television.
But he sold great Hot Dogs!!!
He put up a sign on the highway telling everyone how great they were. He stood at the side of the road & cried “Buy a Hot Dog, Mister”.
And people bought it! He increased his meat and bun orders to keep up with business. He bought a larger stove to take care of his trade. He finally got his son home from school to help him out!
But then something happened …..
His son said, “Father, haven’t you been listening to the radio or reading the newspapers or watching television?”
There is a BIG depression.?The economic situation is terrible. The situation in the Middle East is out of control. At home, we have problems with inflation, riots, pollution, strikes, minorities, majorities, the rich, the poor, drugs, and terrorists! Whereupon the Father thought “Well my son has been to college, he reads the newspapers and listens to the television, he ought to know!”
So his father cut down on his meat and bun orders, took down his advertising signs, and no longer bothered to stand on the road to sell his Hot Dogs.
And his Hot Dog sales fell almost overnight.
“You’re right son,” the father said to the boy, “we certainly are in the middle of Great Depression”
He thought he was doing good until he believed in what he was doing. The minute he placed his belief in something that had no direct effect on him as an individual he started to fail.
Failures are man-made just like most natural calamities. We think we are not capable of a particular task without even having taken an attempt at trying it out.
Don't you taste a couple of soups before you choose your favorite?
Jobs are like that. IMHO We are not born to sit and do just one particular task after passing out of high school or college. I know we were trained to do so.
Are you ready to untrain yourself and learn?
Are you a material engineer or an insurance coordinator stuck at your job for the last 12 years? Were you made redundant struggling to find a job for the last 2 years? Then it's your time to pull up your socks, roll up your sleeves and do something out of the ordinary. Make a blog or write about all you have learned in the last 12 years about your line of work. Show people, you're an expert at coordination and sales. Chances are an employer or recruiter will see how good you are and hire you for their business. Or the people you train may tell you that they have an opportunity at their firm and that you must try it out.
The point is unless you show people how good you are, they won't know.
Don’t listen to others, believe in your own capabilities. You can if you think you can. Don't quit
You need to unlearn the fact that you were born to be just an employee. Try your hand out at being a leader, an entrepreneur, a coach, a trainer etc.
A winner doesn't mean your rich or have hundreds of people following you. A winner is one who is ready to learn, believes in their own capabilities.
A winner lives a purpose-driven rewarding life for themselves and the society they live in.
“Winning is great, sure, but if you are really going to do something in life, the secret is Learning. Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, learn from your failures and go on to win again, you are going to be a champion someday.” - Wilma Rudolph (Quote Edited)
Wishing you the very best in your journey of being a learner!

4 年Constructive note, sweetie, I disagree entirely with Lombardi. Sure you will see why. Where's the most crucial aspect of rest, where is the iteration, the celebration. It matters that all that hustle only happens in Flow-state size chunks. That is, if we want to create, not stick to administrivia paper-pushing soul-crushing tasks.
