Don't lie - contrary to the article in Forbes.com -especially to your recruiter...but really to anyone!
10 Things Never, Ever To Tell Your Recruiter
I did print this out and read it quickly over the weekend so perhaps i missed something and if you didn't read it i believe synopsis was that there was recommendations to never share your salary w a recruiter and also lie and say you have other interviews going on, even if you don't. I will say I strongly disagree w/any recommendation to lie. I think in any situation if you are going to have a working relationship honestly is always the best policy. I know for myself and my assumption is for other really good recruiters we are the "negotiators". We are the middle men or woman who work to find the happy medium as it pertains to an offer. We know the candidates want the most and the client wants to pay the least so it is our job to find the place where everyone is happy. I will say it is not always easy but it is what negotiations are all about. If you are working with someone you don't trust you should probably find someone else. As for if you have something else going on - the market is hot in my space, nobody needs to make that up in biotech:).
